About the Concert

Veteran Afrikaans songstress Laurika Rauch is accompanied by the gifted young cellist, Sunday Kelechi. Kelechi is a member of the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.

Local comedian, Stuart Taylor, brings his brand of hilarity to stage. Taylor is best known for stand-up comedy and magic shows, and he has performed internationally at the likes of the Edinburgh Fringe.

The celebrated Stellenbosch University Choir is conducted by André van der Merwe. The Choir is the oldest of its kind in South Africa and comprises eighty to one hundred voices. It is currently ranked first on the Interkultur World Ranking List for amateur choirs and and has received numerous accolades.

Jan Braai, braai maven and inaugurator of the National Braai Day initiative, adds flavour to this Heritage Day event in honour of the culinary tradition common to many South Africans.
